What is eScore?

eScore is a game-changing metric we've developed to track a book's sales history, helping you gauge its demand over time.

How It Works:

eScore measures the number of days in the past 180 days that a book has sold at least one copy. We track days, not units-sold, because Amazon doesn't share exact sales numbers. For instance, while a book ranked 1k is selling more than one ranked 50k, the exact count is unknown. Instead, we record whether it sold at least one copy on a given day, adding to its eScore. If a book's sales rank is under 100k or drops by more than 10% in a day, we consider it as having sold that day.

We use a six-month timeframe to ensure the eScore reflects seasonal demand, like textbook seasons in January and August, helping you avoid missing out on seasonally popular books.

The maximum eScore is 180, but we group anything over 150 into a "151+" category. This indicates high sales volume, as books with daily sales often have ranks under 100k, but we can't confirm they sell every single day. The "151+" eScore tells you the book has extremely high demand.

Why eScore Matters:

eScore is particularly useful for analyzing books that don't sell frequently. For example, a book with an eScore of 3 has sold three times in the past six months. Its sales rank can vary widely—if you scan it when the rank is 3MM, you might pass on it, but if you scan it right after a sale when the rank is 200k, you might decide to buy it. eScore smooths out this volatility, helping you make better purchasing decisions. It's the key way ScoutIQ helps you scout smarter, not harder!

eScore is integral to ScoutIQ's Smart Triggers and is included in our downloadable database, so you can access this data even without a cell signal.

Some books might not have an eScore yet, either because they aren't in our database or we haven't tracked their sales history for six months.
